I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Indianapolis firefighter Patrick Harper on his graduation from Franklin University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Safety Management.
In addition to graduating Summa Cum Laude, Patrick has also been invited into the Leader Scholar Society, an organization “comprised of students who have achieved the highest levels of academic achievements as well as exhibited leadership skills in the classroom, in their careers, or within their community.”
I have had the pleasure of working with Patrick as my co-faciliator for the Company Officer Development Institute, a weeklong leadership development program I created and has been hosted for fire departments in Indiana, Colorado and Minnesota.
Patrick is a tremendously hard working and professional leader and I am proud of his accomplishment.
Many firefighters talk a big talk about going back to school and finishing their degrees. Some are experts at making up excuses for why they don’t finish. Patrick overcame all his obstacles, kept his head in the books and graduated with the highest honors.
I’m proud to have you on my team, Patrick. You’re a great instructor and role model.
